Guesthouse on Quonnie Pond, Westerly, Rhode Island

This new waterfront house was built to accommodate guests of the residents of an adjacent vacation home on Quonnie Pond.  Because of environmental restrictions, it had to be built within the footprint of an earlier structure that was torn down. It is designed as an “upside down” house with the living spaces on the upper level and the bedrooms on the ground floor. Not only does this give the primary living spaces the best views, it also allows those spaces to extend vertically to the underside of the roof to achiever a greater sense of spaciousness.
